New Facility Progress

Donate to the New Facility

The fight against hunger in Statesboro is critical. 37.2% of Statesboro residents live under the national poverty line – over three times the national average of 11.1%. 1 in 4 Bulloch County children experience weekly food insecurity.

About the New Facility

At The Food Bank, Inc., our mission is to eliminate hunger in the communities we serve and

improve the health and well-being of our clients through access to healthy and nutritious foods, community education, and advocacy.

In order to better fulfill our mission, we built a new facility at 506 Miller Street,

the intersection of Northside Drive, W. and Miller Street, in Statesboro.

This location houses an expanded food storage pantry, classroom space, a kitchen and seating area to provide hot meals,

a cookbook library, and administration offices. Outdoors, there is a large patio that will provide additional seating,

and enough land for a future teaching garden and small orchard.

Thoughtfully designed, our facility will support the growth of The Food Bank, Inc.’s services and programs for the foreseeable future.

We envision our facility as a place where the community joins together to find solutions to eliminating hunger and food insecurity in our region.

Inside the Brannon Pantry

Named after a long time Food Bank, Inc. director, the Joe Bill Brannon Pantry is the heart of our Meal Box and Family Crisis Support Programs.

  •  6500 sq feet of storage space
  • 10 coolers for produce, dairy, and deli items
  • 10 freezers for meats and other frozen items
  • 4 double rows of shelving for non-perishable goods
  • Loading dock and forklift
  • Pantry Manager office space
  • Volunteer break area
  • Supply storage

Public Areas

These areas are designed to assist clients in transforming their lives, providing safe spaces that encourage learning, personal growth,

and relationship building.

Crisis Prep Central

In the planning stages for the new facility, regional crisis preparedness and response preparation were included.  The 2024 Hurricane Season, with unprecedented impact from Tropical Storm Debby and Hurricane Helene, highlighted the wisdom of these plans.

The Food Bank, Inc.'s new facility was designed with the ability to serve the region during crises

  • Walk-in coolers for produce, dairy, and deli items
  • Walk-in freezers for meats and other forzen items
  • Additional storage for non-perishable items and water
  • Gas fired range to cook through power outages
  • Kitchen and seating facilities to serve hot meals
