When disaster strikes, The Food Bank, Inc. is here to ensure our community has the food and the support it needs to recover and rebuild. In response to Hurricanes Debby and Helene we mobilized quickly, providing emergency food assistance to individuals and families impacted by the storms.
With the devastation caused by Hurricane Debby (August 5-15) and Hurricane Helene (September 29 – ongoing), our team has been on the ground, ensuring that no family goes without food or basic necessities.
Despite facing significant challenges during Hurricane Debby, The Food Bank, Inc. continued to serve displaced families and children out of school due to flooding. Though we were unable to receive food from our primary supply source, the incredible support from our community made it possible for us to keep our doors open. Local donations enabled us to distribute emergency food and resources to those most affected by the flooding.
The devastation caused by Hurricane Helene has been overwhelming, and our relief efforts continue. On September 30, we distributed an unprecedented 267 shopping carts of food to families in need — nearly four times our daily average of 70.
In times of disaster, The Food Bank, Inc. relies on the generosity of our community to keep our shelves stocked and our services running. During Hurricane Debby and now Hurricane Helene, the demand for food has been overwhelming, and we need your support to continue providing for those in need.
